The past two years brought irreversible changes in the interpreting profession. Training must keep up with the changes on the market. During the three sessions, EMCI trainers discussed their online teaching experiences, compared simultaneous and consecutive training on site and remote as well as exams on site and remote. Moreover, they discussed advantages and disadvantages and identified best practices. Finally, the transition from interpreting student to a fully-fledged professional was examined. The training was hosted by ELTE and organised by Alessandra Riccardi. Helena Biffio Zorko, Andy Gillies and Clare Donovan moderated the sessions on behalf of the EMCI. DG SCIC was represented by Carlos Hoyos Fernandez-Savater, who made a presentation about how interpreting has changed at the EU institutions. Catherine Pearson, head of the Multilingualism and Succession Planning Unit at DG LINC explained the new interpreter accreditation process.
